Ready or Not! Your Next Move: Taking Action Now!
Leave the learning stage behind - it's time to turn your knowledge into action.
![]() Dr. Diva Verdun - The Fierce Factor Expert | I spent over 20 years believing I had to know everything before I could take meaningful action toward my dreams. I thought learning was the prerequisite to doing, and I convinced myself that the more I knew, the more ready I’d be to start. That belief, however, turned into a cycle that kept me stuck. I’d start and stop, quit altogether, or shrink back into my comfort zone—convinced I didn’t know enough. |
I didn’t realize that I was hiding behind my need to learn more as a way to avoid the fear of failing, or worse, feeling like an imposter.
Fast forward over two decades, and I’m still learning, but here’s the difference: now, I’m taking action. I’ve finally realized that true learning happens in the doing. The knowledge I was desperately seeking wasn’t in the next book, course, or workshop—it was in the experience of taking imperfect action. Yes, I’m still learning on the go, and no, I don’t have all the answers, but I’m moving forward, ragged and determined.
I’ve had to confront the fear of not knowing enough, which used to paralyze me. I allowed this fear to stifle my resolve, and I shrank under the weight of imposter syndrome. I kept telling myself, "I’ll be ready once I learn this," or "I just need to know more before I can do more." But that was my crutch, and it prevented me from taking the very steps that would lead to growth. As a result, I felt stuck, doubting whether I was capable of manifesting my dreams. I lost confidence in my ability to act, and all that waiting just made the doubts worse.
Now, at 64 years old, at the time of this writing, I realize time is precious. The urgency of life has finally pushed me to take action, regardless of how prepared I feel. Waiting to know more has kept me stagnant long enough, and now I’m ready to live boldly and learn as I go. | ![]() |
The Importance of Action Over Learning
There’s no doubt that continuous learning is important—it keeps us sharp and adaptable. But there comes a point when the learning stage has to give way to the action stage. If you’re feeling restless, recognizing opportunities you once ignored, or experiencing an undeniable pull to make a change, it’s time to start doing.
You don’t need to know everything to begin. The truth is, the learning never stops, even when you start taking action. The difference is that action is what moves you closer to your goals, while learning without action only reinforces the feeling of being stuck.
Strategies to Transition from Learning to Action
If you're ready to move into the doing stage, here are some mindset tools and strategies that have helped me make this shift:
Goal Setting:
Start by defining specific, achievable goals. Vague dreams can feel overwhelming, but breaking them down into concrete steps makes them feel manageable.Planning and Prioritization:
Create a roadmap that lays out how you'll get from where you are to where you want to be. Prioritize the most important tasks, and don’t get bogged down by trying to do everything at once.Time Management:
Set aside dedicated time each day to work on your goals. Even small, consistent efforts will lead to progress. Commit to showing up for yourself daily.Break Tasks Into Smaller Steps:
Big goals can be intimidating. Divide them into bite-sized pieces so you can focus on one step at a time. Each small win builds momentum and boosts your confidence.Embrace Imperfection:
Don’t wait for the perfect moment, the perfect skillset, or the perfect plan. Start where you are, with what you have, and learn along the way. Progress is better than perfection.
The Doing Stage Starts Now
Recognize when it’s time to transition from learning to doing. If you're waiting to know everything before you begin, you may never start. The most valuable lessons come from action itself. The doing stage is where you put your knowledge to the test, adapt, and grow.

So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to take action—messy, imperfect, but necessary action. You don’t have to know everything to start, but you have to start to know what you’re capable of.
